Over the past few days, i have read about a murderer who was going to be killed with a single drug instead of multiple drugs. This is the first time this has happened in the entire country. This mans name is Kenneth Boris. his victims name was Tami Engstrom. the drug was injected into Boris a 11:37 on Tuesday. The drug took ten minutes to kill him. Prison director Terry Collins stated that the process was problem free. Before his death, Boris was not pleased with the process. He said it was a method of "impermissible human experimentation". The judge in this case said that his arguments were "unimpressive".
I am neutral in this argument. I think a less painful drug is necessary. The amount of drugs they use could also reduce the cost of administering the death penalty. But the fact that we can feel the person's pain is what i believe to be a very inhumane action. To treat a human as a test subject is to see them as an object. The report said that his muscles tensed and his head twirled before Boris died. This sounds frightful and painful. So even though there are good intentions, the reality of the matter holds many flaws.
